                 Hosts recommend arriving early Thursday so we can attend Taste of Newton.

THURSDAY  Oct 10:  Arrive & set-up.  4:00 Happy Hour

           4:45 carpool to Taste of Newton (outdoors) Churches and clubs host food booths, covering 3 city

                          blocks downtown, plus various stage performances at the intersections.

             (indoor alternative:  eat at Fiesta Mexico Grill in Halstead or at The Barn in Burrton)

 

FRIDAY  Oct 11:  Breakfast on your own

         9:00   carpool to Newton. Guys- see a collection of antique gas engines /

                          Gals - a jewelry collection.  Also check out neighbor’s outdoor Model Train display.

     11:30  Lunch at Prairie Harvest, 601 N Main (groc/deli/bakery-ask to see the peppernut machine),
followed by fun shopping in one block: Creation Stn(yarn, crafts)/Main St Co/Kitchen Corner/ EtCetera
Shop/Anderson Bookstore  - or explore downtown to find Newton’s 13 Murals

       3:00 carpool to Yoder, where we’ll have a speaker about Yoder’s history

       5:00 Supper at Carriage Crossing in Yoder

      (optional) 7:30 in North Newton: FallFest play (see Saturday option#1 below)

             

SATURDAY  Oct 12:  8:30-9:30 AM   Breakfast (approx $4) at Main Clubhouse

              9:30 Prairie Winnies - Business Meeting at Family Center #2

            10:30 Kansas Twisters -Business Meeting at Family Center #2

**Choose an OPTION:

(1) 11:45 travel to North Newton for Bethel College Fall Fest: food booths, jazz fest,

(2)     1:30 “A Case Study of Dead and Dying Towns in KS” presented at Kauffman Museum (free adm),

           3:30 FallFest Play “A Shayna Maidel” $8-10 tickets

            12:15 follow Wanda next door to the campground and see artist and sculptor Beth VanNatta’s studio/home/museum. 

              12:30-4:00 Fun for both guys & gals: a make&take Basic Stone Carving workshop.  $12 fee per person

includes all supplies (if only one wants to pay the fee to create a masterpiece, spouse is still welcome to come & watch)

Let Wanda know if you intend to attend this masterpiece creation so she can make sure there are enough supplies for everyone.

              4:30 Happy Hour

              6:00 Chili Supper provided, bring a side dish to share

              7:00-7:30 Ice Cream Bar at Main Clubhouse
